Brian Evan Morgan  A Newton County elementary school janitor is facing two counts of sexual exploitation of a child, Georgia Bureau of Investigation officials said. The GBI arrested Brian Evan Morgan. Authorities issued a search warrant after receiving information that the 48-year-old was sharing files containing child pornography. Investigators said they found numerous files of suspected child porn on his computer. Morgan had been a janitor at Mansfield Elementary in Newton County since March. He has been fired. Officials said there is no indication that the images involve local children. GBI spokesman John Bankhead said the files they found were those that are typically shared by pedophiles over the Internet. Elizabeth Gaddy  Troup County Sheriff's officers arrested a school teacher on charges of aggravated child molestation, child molestation, and enticing a child for indecent purposes. Elizabeth Gaddy is a seventh grade teacher at Callaway Middle School. She has been on administrative leave since November 20, 2008 -- pending investigation of her professional conduct. Investigators charged Elizabeth Gaddy, 45, a current teacher at Callaway Middle School in Hogansville, with child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. Gaddy is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old male student. Police said Gaddy had been having sexual contact with him for several months. Sgt. Kelli Ellington said some of the alleged behavior occurred at Gaddy's home in Hogansville and also on dirt roads in Troup County. Ellington said none of the alleged behavior occurred on school grounds. Gaddy was already on administrative leave because of a previous investigation into allegations of inappropriate contact with students. Ellington said parents of cheerleaders complained about inappropriate close relationships between Gaddy and cheerleaders. "(The parents said) she was too close to them. (She was) writing them notes, text messaging them on certain occasions," said Ellington. "The information that we received from concerned parents and the investigation that was ongoing at the school involved allegations of professional misconduct, but it was actually the Troup County Sheriff's Department who uncovered the sexual misconduct allegations," said Ellington. Corey Grayson An arrest warrant has been issued for a former Pebblebrook High School teacher charged with enticing a child for sex. Corey L. Grayson, 32, of Duluth, is accused of soliciting a 15-year-old student in the school’s bleachers last week, according to the warrant. Grayson reportedly asked the student to write down “what she wanted him to do to her” on a piece of paper and put her number and address on it, according to the arrest warrant. Cobb school officials confirmed that Grayson recently resigned, but declined to provide further details. According to the school’s Web site, Grayson had been a member of the Mableton High School’s physical education department, coached freshman basketball and was an assistant volleyball coach. Matthew Blanton  Investigations continue after the firing and arrest of two Model High School coaches, Matthew Blanton and Daniel Brown, and the termination of one paraprofessional, Jamie Taylor. Blanton, 28, and Brown, 30, were both arrested on sexual assault charges for allegedly having inappropriate contact with students. According to Floyd County Police Sgt. Teri Davis, Taylor, 30, will not face any criminal charges. All three were hired at Model High on July 28, 2008. In an interview transcript between Brown and school officials, he was asked a number of questions concerning an alleged relationship between him and a 17-year-old female student. Brown said the student did spend one night at his house and he did kiss her, but that he did not fondle her and they did not have sex. Interview transcripts between the 17-year-old female student and school officials reported she admitted having sex with Brown and spending the night with him on three or four occasions. According to a memo to Blanton from Floyd County Schools Superintendent Lynn Plunkett, he was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old female student, which involved sexual misconduct and other inappropriate conduct including touching, kissing and/or fondling. Ernesto Guzman  A Georgia taxi driver hired by the Floyd County Board of Education is accused of enticing a student for sex. Ernesto Guzman was arrested Friday by the Floyd County Police Department. Investigators said the Floyd County Board of Education has an agreement with Rome Taxi Cab Company to transport students from the Floyd Transitional Academy on Morrison Campground Road to the board of education, where students ride the bus from there to their homes. Investigators said Guzman purchased alcohol for himself and the student then drove to Chattooga County to have sex. Woodstock Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Amy Syrinek-Ross, 32, of Marietta, charging her with one count of simple battery against a 10-year-old child. The charge stems from an incident that allegedly occurred at AMF Woodstock Lanes, a bowling center located at 108 Woodpark Blvd. in Woodstock, on Nov. 15. Syrinek-Ross is accused of illegally touching the child in the bowling alley restroom. She allegedly identified herself as a teacher to both the child and an adult woman who witnessed the incident, according to Woodstock Police Public Information Officer Paul Brown. Syrinek-Ross is employed as a school counselor. "The Woodstock Police Department places a very high priority on investigating crimes committed against children," said Brown. Brandi McMichael  The Newton County Sheriff’s Office arrested paraprofessional Brandi McMichael yesterday in connection with a relationship McMichael allegedly had with a 13-year-old student at Cousins Middle School, where she worked. McMichael, who turns 29 years old Dec. 8, faces one count of first degree child molestation, one count of transmitting illicit materials through a cell phone to a minor, one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes and one count of interfering with custody. According to Lt. Bill Watterson, spokesman for the NCSO, McMichael sent text messages and indecent photos to the child’s cell phone and had been having an off-campus relationship with the middle school student. Newton County School Systems spokesperson Sherri Viniard said school administrators contacted the authorities when they learned of the relationship and are fully cooperating with the Sheriff's office in its investigation. "We are obviously very concerned about the allegations and based on the outcome of the investigation, the board will take appropriate action, possibly as early as the board meeting scheduled for next Tuesday, Dec. 9," Viniard said in a prepared statement. Steven Martin Parkman  Steve Parkman, who allegedly told investigators that he and a student had sexual contact four times beginning last February, is seeking a dismissal of the charges against him on the basis that the law prohibiting teacher and student sexual relations is unconstitutional. Parkman maintains that the law is unconstitutional on the claim that “it lacks sufficient specificity, is void for vagueness and does not give a person of ordinary intelligence fair warning that specific conduct is forbidden”. Craig Steven Bowen  Craig Steven Bowen was found guilty of four counts of child molestation in Coweta Superior Court on Tuesday. After listening to Bowen's pleas for leniency, Judge Jack Kirby sentenced him to 20 years with 15 to serve in prison -- the balance of which he's to serve on probation -- for admittedly having an ongoing sexual relationship with a female relative who was under 16. Bowen was sentenced to 20 years with 15 to serve in prison for each count of child molestation -- all of which will run concurrently. "I never intended to do anything wrong," Bowen said just prior to sentencing. "I take full responsibility for what I did. I'm an adult and she's a child." Bowen said the inappropriate relationship ended in June 2002. He told the judge that he would have accepted the plea offer from the state for 20 years with 12 to serve had he known the specific dates of alleged wrongdoing outlined in the indictment "didn't mean anything."
Steven Emanuel
Steven Emanuel, 46, of Woodstock, was arrested by detectives with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on charges of child molestation and sexual assault of a person in custody. Emanuel, a teacher at Creekland Middle School, is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old at the school on Sept. 25. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the attack was initially reported to school police and then turned over to county investigators. Cecil Fore III, 50, an associate professor in the College of Education, was being terminated by the university’s president, Michael F. Adams, according to university spokesman Tom Jackson. The university will continue with formal tenure-revocation proceedings later, Jackson said. Fore indicated on a security clearance form provided by the university that he had never been convicted of a crime, Jackson said. And university officials confirmed that Fore had served time in an Alabama prison, Jackson said.Fore was convicted Jan. 16, 1991, on multiple counts of sexually abusing three special-education students in Montgomery junior high schools where he was a teacher, according to court records. He was sentenced to serve three years in a sex offenders’ unit of the Alabama penal system, followed by five years’ probation. Fore’s past came to light this week through a Cleveland, Ohio, author working on a book with Huey Harris. Alison Ivey A Baldwin County grand jury has indicted a Baldwin County High School teacher on five counts of sexual assault, according to court records. Alison Ivey, 29, is accused of having sexual intercourse with two male students during the 2007-2008 school year, according to records filed with the court today. Ivey is accused of performing oral sex on a then 17-year-old student and having sexual intercourse with him twice, said Fred Bright, district attorney for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit. She also is accused of having sexual intercourse with a then 18-year-old student, Bright said. Although both students were over Georgia's age of consent, which is 16, the sexual contact was against the law, Bright said. "What makes it a crime is the teacher-student relationship," he said. "It's a crime for any teacher to have sexual contact with a student at his or her school." Bright did not disclose whether Ivey taught either student in an effort to protect the students' identities. If convicted, Ivey could face a minimum sentence of 10 years on probation up to a maximum of 30 years in prison for each of the five counts, Bright said.
Rob Williams Lanier County High School's basketball coach is charged with the sexual assault of two students under the age of 16. The superintendent of schools, Keith Humphries, says Rob Williams turned himself into authorities Tuesday afternoon. Humpries says Rob Williams faces two charges. Williams is on paid administrative leave until the school board decides what to do next. The board will take up the matter at its next meeting on Monday, October 13th. Humpries says this is a personnel matter and it's being taken very seriously. Williams is out on bond.
David Lawton
Lawton is charged with aggravated child molestation and is being held in the Lowndes County Jail without bond. Lawton came to the attention of authorities in August when the alleged victim came forward telling investigators about a sexual relationship he allegedly had with Lawton between January and June of this year. Reportedly Lawton and the alleged victim met via a website. A spokesperson for the school district says that Lawton’s service with the school system has been terminated. The attorney for the former Montgomery County High School counselor accused of having sex with a student is seeking a change of venue for the criminal trial. Carrie O'Connor is scheduled to be tried the week of November 17th in Montgomery County Superior Court. She was indicted last year for an alleged sexual assault with a 16-year-old boy. Her attorney, Paul Cook of Vidalia, has filed a motion asking Judge Frederick Mullis to move the trial out of Montgomery County due to pre-trial publicity.
