 A former Mckinley High School special education teacher's assistant was sentenced to prison today for sexually assaulting one of his students.
It's a ten year term for Gregory Keau, who pleaded guilty to four counts of sex assault.
Gregory Keau was a teacher's assistant, entrusted to help teach special education students.
Deputy Prosuctor, Talia Murphy says, "The defendant as her teacher abused his position of trust and authority over this child." On two separate occasions Keau made a special needs student, who was 17 at the time perform a sexual act on him.
This past may he was caught. "He pulled up his board shorts, and with a surprised look on his face to close up his private area," says witness, Jonathan Cariaga. Cariaga was a fellow teacher's aid who witnessed the assault in a mckinley classroom. "He told me not to say anything because if I said anything it would take him down, and he didn't want me to take him down and he couldn't lose his job."

A former dance teacher on the Big Island has been charged with more than 30 counts of sexual assault involving three children over a span of about three years.
Some of the alleged victims were her students. Raysean Paglinawan, 21, made her initial appearance in court on Monday. She turned herself in to Kona police on Saturday after a grand jury indicted last week.
Prosecutors would not comment on whether the children are boys or girls. All three were under the age of 14 when the alleged assaults began.
The alleged crimes happened between June 2004 and August 2007. Paglinawan was a hip-hop dance instructor at Naalehu Theatre during part of that period.
"Unfortunately, sex assaults do occur and what we have here is, fortunately, victims who were willing to come forward and tell the police what had happened to them," said deputy prosecuting attorney Darien Nagata.

The mother of a 13-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted by her former high school volleyball coach gave a tearful testimony yesterday in Circuit Court, detailing the emotional destruction on the girl and her family.
The mother, whose name is being withheld to protect the victim's identity, said her daughter has gone through a range of emotions, including fear, anger, depression, low self-esteem and suicidal tendencies.
"How can you ask a child to cope with all these feelings?" she asked Circuit Judge Richard Pollack during a sentencing hearing for former Maryknoll assistant volleyball coach Darin Yoshinaka. "We wish we could take it away and bear it on our own shoulders."
Pollack sentenced Yoshinaka to 18 months in prison yesterday under a plea agreement.

Judge sets bail at $1 million for a Wahiawa soccer coach accused of sexually assaulting young boys. KITV was the first to report about Frederick Rames' arrest on Thursday. It was the second time in two weeks that police arrested the 67-year-old man. Police arrested him on new allegations involving five boys between 7 and 12 years old. The 21 charges of sexual assault and witness tampering against Rames are detailed in court documents.
The allegations are graphic and sexual in nature and not appropriate for young children. Five boys said that the allegations happened between them and Rames starting in 2002.
