A former coach with two school districts pleaded guilty Wednesday to having sexual relationships with two Mountain Valley High School students.
Donald L. Hebert, 34, of 577 Common Road in Dixfield, pleaded guilty in Oxford County Superior Court to one count of gross sexual assault and one count of unlawful sexual contact, both Class C felonies. Hebert was accused of having sexual relationships with two 17-year-old girls.
Justice Roland Cole accepted a plea agreement, sentencing Hebert to serve nine months of a five-year prison sentence. Hebert must also serve four years probation and register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Hebert was arrested after one of the girls spoke to school officials, who were investigating rumors that Hebert and another school employee were having inappropriate relationships with students.

David Tanguay
05-01-08
A former Windham High School biology teacher has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.
David Tanguay, 61, pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Portland to one count of possessing child pornography after an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
A federal investigation in 2003 identified many people who had paid for subscriptions to Web sites that contained child pornography. One of those was Tanguay, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Tanguay told agents in 2004 that he downloaded child porn from different sites but that it did not interest him. An analysis of his computer and disks uncovered the illegal images, the release said. Tanguay, who said he has been retired for more than a year, referred questions to his attorney, Richard Berne. Tanguay faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, according to the release

Gilbert Telford

A former SAD 72 substitute teacher was indicted Thursday in what Oxford County officials say is the biggest child pornography case they have ever investigated.
Police said they seized five computers from the home of Gilbert Telford, 68, of 53 Tracy Lane in Center Lovell. The Maine Computer Crimes Task Force recovered tens of thousands of pornographic photos and more than 300 digital movies, some with children under 12, said Sgt. Matt Baker of the Oxford County Sheriff's Office.
The material was given to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, based in Alexandria, Va. The center identified several missing children through Telford's material.

Frank "Skip" Gleason

A former Carrabec High School administrator who on Tuesday pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor faces a maximum of 364 days in jail for his crime.
Frank "Skip" Gleason, 60, of Anson, was accused of hugging, kissing and fondling a 15-year-old boy during a ride home from a school.
Alan Kelley, deputy district attorney for Kennebec and Somerset counties, said Gleason entered his plea before Justice Joseph Jabar early Tuesday morning in Kennebec County Superior Court. Gleason will appear in Somerset County Superior Court within 90 days for sentencing, Kelley said.
Kelley said the state dropped the first count of unlawful sexual conduct in exchange for Gleason's guilty plea on the sexual abuse charge. According to an affidavit obtained on Dec. 26, Gleason admitted in a taped phone conversation to sexual contact with the 15-year-old male Carrabec student. It is the policy of the Morning Sentinel not to name the victims of sex crimes.

Donald L. Hebert
10-10-08
Board members learned Tuesday night that an educational technician and baseball coach who had been on paid administrative leave after being charged with a sex crime has resigned. Donald L. Hebert, 33, of Rumford, was placed on leave soon after he was arrested Sept. 14 by Rumford police Lt. Mark Cayer and charged with sexually assaulting a Mountain Valley High School girl.
Hebert also was a junior varsity basketball coach in neighboring SAD 43 during the 2006-2007 school year. SAD 21 placed him on paid leave while the investigation into the case continued. Superintendent Tom Ward said Tuesday that Hebert's decision to resign, effective Dec. 31, came following negotiations between lawyers for both sides. The district agreed to continue paying Hebert's health insurance premiums for his family until the end of the year, a cost Ward estimated at about $2,500. He said the decision to allow continued health insurance coverage was made to give the family time to find other coverage.
