A former city school district bus driver who admitted to having sexual contact with three boys between the ages of 12 and 14 was sentenced Tuesday to 60 days in the county jail.

As he was led out of the courtroom by two sheriff's deputies, Douglas Conrad, 35, had to walk past the mother of one of his victims. He lowered his head when he saw her and his glasses nearly fell from his face.

Two years ago, the woman — whose name is being withheld to protect her son's identity — allowed her son, 12 at the time, to live temporarily with Conrad. The boy and her other son often fought and she couldn't control them, she said. Conrad attended her church and offered to take in her younger son. He molested the boy, who eventually told his mom about the abuse.

A former Morristown music teacher was sentenced to weekends in jail for inappropriate contact with a student last year.

38-year-old Daniel G. Frick of Potsdam was sentenced Thursday in Morristown Village Court to 60 days in the St. Lawrence County Jail and three years probation on a guilty plea to a charge of child endangerment.

Frick pled guilty in July to the charge stemming from incidents with a 16-year-old student between July and October, 2007 at the school.

The contact ranged from holding hands to kissing, according to investigators. The investigation later revealed Frick and the girl had sex at the school several times after her 17th birthday, which isn't a crime.

Frick is being allowed to serve his sentence on weekends to allow him to continue working. The judge also issued an order of protection and directed Frick to pay a $210 court fee.

Frick was a music teacher at Morristown for two years and ran the summer marching band program. He was previously an instructor at the Salmon River and St. Lawrence Central School districts. Frick surrendered his state teaching license and was terminated by the school district in August.

A former South Buffalo Charter School teacher who lost her job after authorities learned she had "an inappropriate relationship" with an eighth-grade pupil has been charged with rape, after being accused of meeting with him weeks after the original incident in mid-June.

Cara Dickey, 30, of Clarence, faces new charges of second-degree rape and criminal contempt, for violating an order of protection in the case.

Dickey is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail pending a felony hearing at 3 p.m. Tuesday in West Seneca Town Court. She turned herself in at West Seneca Town Court with her attorney, Daniel J. Chiacchia, about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to West Seneca Town Court records, Dickey pleaded not guilty Wednesday evening to the charges.

Chiacchia declined to comment on the new charges, and Erie County District Attorney Frank J. Clark would say only that Dickey is now accused of having "sexual relations with a 14-year-old male during the summer of 2008."

For the second time in two weeks a Niagara Falls City Court judge has dismissed attempts to have charges against a Niagara Falls High School teacher accused of engaging in “an intimate relationship” with a 16-year-old female student thrown out.

Judge Robert Merino rejected a move by the attorney for Paul Chiarella to have a sexual abuse charge against him dismissed because the his victim, in a statement to police said, “ we never had any sexual contact whatsoever.”

In his decision, Merino ruled that “the information in the complaint (against Chiarella) is sufficiently detailed (to sustain the charge).”

The judge also agreed with prosecutors who had argued that regardless of the victim’s “conclusory” statement, other information she gave police was sufficient to charge Chiarella.

“Sexual contact means any touching of intimate body parts,” Merino concluded after reviewing state law and other recent court rulings. “There are (allegations) that touching took place.”

Robert R. Becker Jr., 36, a substitute teacher’s aide and volunteer assistant junior varsity boy’s basketball coach at Franklin Central School in Franklin, New York has been indicted by a Delaware County Grand Jury on allegations that he had sex with one underage girl and attempted to have sexual contact with two other underage girls.

Becker was indicted on Thursday, arrested on Friday and jailed without bond pending arraignment today.

Becker is reportedly facing 3 counts of third-degree rape, 1 count of third-degree criminal sexual act, 4 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and 1 count of second-degree attempted sexual abuse on allegations of the sexual abuse of 3 females all under 17-years-old.

Reportedly Becker came to the attention of authorities when one of the girls came forward to school administrators, who then referred the case to authorities.

Kason M. O’Neil, 26, a physical education teacher and track coach at Hudson Falls High School in Hudson Falls, New York was arrested on allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old female student in 2005 and 2006.

Jurors in the recent trial of a local coach and teacher voted 11-1 in favor of convicting him of all charges at numerous points during deliberations last week, a juror said Tuesday night.

The juror, a Greenwich-area man who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was concerned about public sentiment toward the jurors in the high-profile case, said the panel twice had 11 jurors in favor of convicting Kason M. O’Neil on all charges.

The lone holdout was a woman on the panel who did not believe O’Neil was guilty, the man said. The jury was made up of nine men and three women.

"At one point, I wasn’t very far behind here," he said. "We all compromised. It ended up being he was slightly guilty."

The jury acquitted O’Neil of 12 of 14 charges, including nine felonies, in connection with allegations he had sex with a student who was 14 and 15 years old between 2005 and 2007. The girl also ran on the Hudson Falls High track team he coached.

A 34-year-old former Byram Hills High School gym teacher pleaded guilty today to illegally filming female students in school last year.

Quentin Lindsey will serve no jail time but must follow terms of sex-offender probation for a year to receive an additional five years probation at his sentencing in 2009.

If he violates any part of his probation, Westchester County Judge Jeffrey Cohen said, he will go to jail.

Lindsey, a Sleepy Hollow resident and former Lakeland High School baseball star, resigned from his teaching job yesterday and must surrender his teaching license within 30 days. He had been suspended from his positions as teacher and varsity baseball coach at Byram Hills shortly after his arrest.

Lindsey pleaded guilty to second-degree unlawful surveillance, a felony. The guilty plea covers a filming incident that occurred between Jan. 1 and June 1, 2007.

Thomas Filion, 68, a former teacher at various schools in the Saratoga Springs, New York area has pleaded guilty to charges arising from the sexual assault of a teenage boy.

In November 2007 Filioin was arrested on allegations that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy in the shower in the Saratoga Springs YMCA by approaching the teen and grabbing the boy’s genitals.

Filion pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child. Sentencing for Filion is set for November 17th and he faces a sentencing range from probation to up to seven years in prison.

The prosecution has indicated that it intends to seek the surrender of Filion’s teaching certificates, a lifetime registration as a sex offender and an order of protection for both the boy and the YMCA.

An Ithaca High School physical education teacher and former girls volleyball coach is facing felony sex crime charges in Tyrone, Pa.

Darin M. Strong, 34, of Candor, is accused of using an Internet chat program to make sexual conversation with a citizen of Pennsylvania posing as a 13-year-old girl, and sending sexual Webcam images of himself to the person, according to a Tyrone Police Department criminal complaint. The complaint alleges Strong used an Internet chat program and the screen name “dstrong03.”

In addition to explicit sexual comments, Strong allegedly acknowledged in the online conversation that the citizen posing as the girl is “much younger than me,” according to a police affidavit. The citizen presented the photos and a record of the online conversation to police on June 30, the complaint said. Police developed Strong's identity and employment information via the screen name and contacted Ithaca Police, who matched a picture of him and the volleyball team with the Webcam photos, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states the citizen belongs to an organization dedicated to educating parents and children about online predators.

The principal of an Islamic boarding school on Buffalo’s East Side has been forced to resign after allegations that he was sexually involved with one of his students and that he claimed to have taken her as a second wife.

Evidence suggests Mohammed Ibrahim Memon, a father of seven, persuaded Sajidah Khan, then 21, to marry under Islamic law as a pretense to sleep with her.

Memon, an Islamic scholar and imam, has agreed to leave his post at Darul-Uloom Al-Madania, 182 Sobieski St., for a minimum of seven years. The private, Islamic secondary school and institute of higher learning is located alongside Masjid Zakariya mosque in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood.

Memon also agreed to never teach in the girls school again if reinstated. Dr. Khalid J. Qazi, president of the local chapter of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, expressed disappointment over Memon’s “inappropriate and intimate relationship.”

A former AuSable Valley Central School Board member has admitted to having sex with an underage female.

Anthony D. Deyoe, 28, of AuSable Forks, pleaded guilty in Essex County Court to felony third-degree criminal sexual act. Deyoe was a member of the School Board when he was charged by State Police in October 2007, but soon resigned. He is also a former teacher.

Police arrested Deyoe for having oral sex with a then-14-year-old girl on Oct. 13, 2007, at his home in Jay’s AuSable Forks hamlet. The County District Attorney’s Office reported it will ask for a state prison sentence for Deyoe.

Deyoe had served on the School Board since 2001. AuSable Valley Central School District officials said that, as far as they know, the incident did not involve any AuSable Valley students.

A former Hadley-Luzerne music teacher who was arrested earlier this year for having improper contact with minors, is now facing charges of possessing child pornography.

A Ronkonkoma karate school instructor was arrested Thursday on child pornography charges, Suffolk police said.

Marcel Schneider, 25, a program director and instructor at the Family Martial Arts Center in Ronkonkoma, was arrested on two charges, promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Two computers, a flash drive and an external hard drive that were in Schneider's possession were seized by authorities July 31, police said, and a forensic analysis revealed an extensive and graphic collection of child pornography. Schneider surrendered Thursday night to detectives at the Seventh Precinct.

Anthony D. Harper pleaded guilty today to a felony-level sodomy charge involving a 13-year-old boy and resigned from his job as a West Seneca East Middle School French teacher and wrestling coach.

State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski told Harper, 34, he faces a prison term of two to seven years when he is sentenced Nov. 12. The judge ordered Harper to surrender his New York State teachers certificate within the next seven days and to stay away from the victim.

Deputy District Attorney Rosanne Eimer Johnson told the judge because Harper pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal sexual act in the second degree, the highest count lodged against him by an Erie County grand jury, misdemeanor sex abuse and child endangerment charges were dropped.

During the plea proceeding, Harper signed a document terminating him immediately as a West Seneca school teacher.

Harper had taught in the district since 1998 and was suspended from work following his Aug. 8, 2007 arrest by Hamburg police. He replied "yes" when the judge asked him if he had committed an "oral sexual act" on the boy 12 months ago at his apartment on Teachers Lane in Hamburg.

Massena man faces seven charges for the alleged sexual abuse of two 13 year old girls on Monday.

Village Police charged 47 year old Daniel Zera, 133 Allen Street with:

Zera was arraigned and jailed with bail set at $25,000.

According to the Daily Courier Observer, court documents list two alleged victims, both 13 year old girls. Zera is the operator of a gymnastics studio at St. Lawrence Centre Mall, the paper reported. However, the alleged incidents happened at his home.

A Dutchess County special education teacher has been accused of having sex with a 15-year-old disabled student. Teacher Mandi Weeks, 27, was arrested on Monday in Queens. She admitted to having sex with her student at the Devereux Foundation NY Center for the past month, according to police.

Weeks is being charged with two counts of rape with a child under the age of 21 and two acts of acting in a manner to injure a child under the age of 17.

The student was in the school’s residential program and lived on campus. He had been home on break for the last two weeks. Weeks lives in upstate New York and the reason for her commute to Queens Monday is still being questioned; sources said she may have been visiting her brother in Brooklyn.

The former Lisbon Central School teacher who admitted to having an affair with a student has been given a Level 1 Sex Offender status at a hearing in St. Lawrence County Court.

33-year-old Christel C. Gravlin plead guilty in March to one count of 3rd degree Rape in a deal that will see her sentenced to no more than six months in jail followed by ten years probation. Today, Judge Richards set her Sex Offender status at Level 1, the lowest level. The judge cited “clear and convincing evidence” that she was not a risk to be a repeat offender, as she has been undergoing drug counseling and psychiatric treatment since the case came to light.

A professor at a Hudson Valley college faces a 141-count indictment for child pornography found on his office computer. James Kent, a professor of public administration at Marist College in the town of Poughkeepsie, was arraigned earlier this week in Dutchess County Court. He’s free on $10,000 bail.

A Marist spokesman says the 61-year-old Kingston resident has been on leave since his arrest last September. College officials notified police in April 2007 after a Marist employee discovered child porn images while performing maintenance on Kent’s computer.

A former teacher at a preschool in Staten Island's Willowbrook neighborhood pleaded guilty today to a count of first-degree sex abuse for molesting a 5-year-old student.

Christopher Gordon, 23, will serve 2 1/2 years in prison as part of the deal. He'll also serve three to 10 years of post-release supervision and must register as a sex offender.

He'll be sentenced July 16 in front of Justice Leonard P. Rienzi. Gordon was accused of five instances of abuse in which he allegedly made his young victim sit on his lap and bounce or stand with her back against the wall while he rubbed his genitals on her inside the bathroom of the Oakdale Academy on Victory Boulevard.

Former Waunakee and Madison La Follette High School teaching assistant Anthony Hirsch entered a no contest plea and was found guilty Thursday of a charge of repeated sexual assault of a child.

Dane County Circuit Court Judge David Flanagan found Hirsch guilty based on the change in pleas -- Hirsch had earlier pled not guilty -- and ordered a pre-sentence investigation by the Department of Corrections. As part of a plea bargain, two counts of possession of child pornography were dismissed but can be taken into consideration by the judge when he sentences Hirsch at a later date.Hirsch was working as a teaching assistant in special education at the Waunakee School district when he was put on unpaid leave after a criminal investigation first disclosed that he had been viewing child pornography on the Internet. The investigation later led to the charge of repeated sexual assault of a child after Hirsch confessed to having an affair with a teenage girl while he was working at La Follette.

A plea agreement has been reached in the case of a teacher accused of raping a former student.

Elizabeth Munn, an eighth grade social studies teacher at Broadalbin-Perth Middle School, was charged with having sex with a 15-year-old boy back in September.

Under the plea deal, Munn will spend six months in the Fulton County Jail and will surrender her teaching license. She'll also resign from the school and register as a level one sex offender.The Fulton County DA pursued the rape charge because the 15-year-old was too young to consent, even though the sex was voluntary.

A former private school teacher and youth pastor arrested by Suffolk detectives May 15 on charges of having a sexual relationship with a female teenage student was arraigned Wednesday in Suffolk County court in Riverhead.

Shocking crime has come to light involving a Queens high school teacher. The 22-year-old is under arrest, accused of having sex with three teenagers, one of them a former student.

However, the teacher is claiming she's the victim. Janmattie Singh started teaching just last year. Her students were shocked when they found out she'd been arrested.

"I'm very, very surprised," Carlotta Mohamed said. "I would never expect something like that from Mrs. Singh. I mean, I had her. I was her student. She was really so friendly. It's just a shock. I can't believe it."

Back in January Singh allegedly contacted one of her former students to have sex. He was 18 years old, and told her he couldn't get away because he was with his two cousins, one of them 15. Investigators say she met with the three boys at their home in Brooklyn and had sex with them.

A month later investigators say Singh had another sexual encounter with the 18-year-olds at her apartment near the school.

60-year-old John Colazzi was arraigned on a sealed indicted this morning before Supreme Court Justice John Michalski, charged with sexual abuse in the rirst degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

It is alledged that Colazzi fondled a four year-old boy in the lavatory at School 67, the Discovery School.

The case led to the dismissal of the district's human resource director, who was accused by Superintendent James Williams of mishandling the allegations of abuse brought forth months ago by a teacher, who said she witnssed the aide abusing the child. The teacher allegedly notified the district, but law enforcement was not called in for several months.

Buffalo School Board Member Ralph Hernandez, who asked the State ethics Committee to examine why this case was not turned over to District Attorney Frank Clark until March, says the scary part is this case could have been swept under the rug. "We don't know where the verdict will go, but if they must have some evidence. I think we did the right thing here, and hopefully it will be behind us."

Of course, Van Valkinburgh apologized for his actions and said he was sorry for the "pain and suffering" he caused both his victim's family and his own. Yeah right!

Maria Zurita was sentenced a former McQuade School teacher to three months in jail for having sex with one of her students The maximum allowed would have been 6 months.

Because she pleaded guilty to statutory rape shw will have to register as a sex offender and submit to the supervision of a probation officer for 10 years. She'll never be able to teach again because she pleaded guilty to a felony. Thank God for that.

Let's see if a few months in jail will help her remember not to have sex with underage kids.

A Brooklyn synagogue employee was arrested Sunday night and charged with sexually molesting two boys, 13 and 14, during their religious studies at a synagogue school, city police said.

After his 11 p.m. Sunday arrest Yona Weinberg, 29, of 1551-A East 17th St., Brooklyn, was charged with sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a minor, the police said.

The police were responding to allegations of past sexual abuse, with the victims saying that "the suspect [a nonreligious employee] had touched their private parts on more than one occasion while assisting them with their religious studies," a Monday police report said.

A former Scarsdale High School teacher was sentenced today to more than four years in prison for illegally possessing child pornography.

Allen Julier, 55, of Crafts Road, Carmel, pleaded guilty Feb. 1 to possessing the pornography that he downloaded from pay Web sites on his home computer. Investigators found more than 100 images and 500 videos of child pornography on the computer, Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna M. Skotko said today in U.S. District Court in White Plains.

Julier's lawyer, Victor Grossman, had asked Judge Kenneth M. Karas to sentence Julier to probation rather than prison, citing more than 25 letters of support, Julier's unblemished 27-year teaching career, and psychological factors that led to behavior he said was "situational." Julier read a statement to the court, apologizing for his crime, saying the dissolution of his marriage, the failure of a subsequent relationship, and the deteriorating health of his elderly mother led him to seek an "escape" from his problems.

A music teacher at Stuart M. Townsend Middle School was arrested late Friday on charges he endangered the welfare of two 14-year-old girls by having "inappropriate" physical contact with them, kissing them and giving one $50, court records show.

Keith D. Powell, 56, of Barbara Mac Drive, Corinth, faces two misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child for alleged incidents with the girls that occurred in his classroom, court records show.

He was arrested by the Warren County Sheriff's Office and was released pending prosecution in Lake Luzerne Town Court on Wednesday.

The girls were students of his whom he recently allowed to use his classroom during study hall periods. Powell has been a teacher at the school since 1986.

Hadley-Luzerne district Superintendent Irwin Sussman said Powell was not at the school Monday.
