Lori June Canady
09-05-08
A former Jennings school teacher's aide must register as a sex offender after admitting to an intimate encounter with a 15-year-old boy.
A Tulsa County judge this week gave 35-year-old Lori June Canady eight years of probation for a second-degree rape count she pleaded guilty to in July.
District Judge William Kellough's punishment doesn't require Canady to serve time in prison but does give her a felony conviction. As a result, she must register as a sex offender.
Police say Canady and the boy admitted they had sex February 18th in a room at a Sand Springs motel.
According to reports, Canady said she picked the boy up at his home and took him to a Tulsa shopping mall before they went to the motel. By law, the boy was too young to consent to having sex with the defendant.

A former Haskell band director pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of forcible sodomy involving a former juvenile student.
Larry Dean Scheer, 59, entered into a plea agreement, agreeing to a term of 20 years suspended on each count. Each count is to run concurrent with the other. That means Scheer gets no prison time if he doesn’t break the law within the next 20 years.
He will have to register as a sex offender, said Muskogee County Sheriff Investigator Faye Banks.
An affidavit filed in the initial court filing states one incident occurred in December 2007 and the second on Jan. 4, 2008. Both incidents occurred in a band practice room at Haskell High School, the affidavit states.

An Altus school custodian is in jail charged with lewd and indecent acts with a child. Last week, Intermediate School Custodian William "George" Woodhouse was on administrative leave after being under investigation. Woodhouse was investigated by police into what they called "inappropriate sexual conduct with a student." Now, the investigation is complete, and the man is in jail.
One resident near the school says she is relieved Woodhouse is behind bars, but she wants to be sure something like this doesn't happen again. 7News wanted to know just how Woodhouse was able to be hired to work in the school district. The District Attorney says Woodhouse didn't have any prior arrests as far as he was aware of, and since it's a personnel matter, 7News was unable to get any more information from the school.

Regina McKay
04-07-08
Cotton County_On Monday, a Cotton County school teacher pled "no contest" to the second degree rape of a 17-year-old in 2006, and was convicted and sentenced all in the same day. Geronimo school teacher Regina McKay was accused by one of her students of giving him cigarettes and alcohol to go to her home in Walters and have sex with her.
The District Attorney's office says the two had consensual sex, but it's considered second degree rape. Under Oklahoma state law, it is illegal for high school teachers to have sex with students aged 16-20. The Cotton County DA says McKay received a sentence of five years in prison, but she will serve only 30 days, and those will be on weekends. McKay will be on probation for two years and must pay a $1,000 fine in addition to court costs. She will be required to register as a sex offender, and will be required to confirm her address every three months. McKay will be permitted to be with children only when there is adult supervision, however she will be allowed to attend her children's school functions.
