A former Travis High School teacher was sentenced to 15 years of probation Monday after pleading guilty to child pornography and improper photography charges.

Under the terms of his probation, Page White, 40, right, must register as a sex offender and avoid contact with children. He has surrendered his teaching license. White, who taught at Travis for three years and previously worked at Kealing Middle School, had at least 75 images of child pornography on his home computer, many of them involving children under the age of 12, Austin police Detective Joel Pridgeon said in Travis County district court Monday.

Police also found several dozen videos of young women’s behinds on White’s video camera, most of which appeared to have been taken without the women’s knowledge, according to an affidavit for White’s arrest. The videos included images of women walking around Highland Mall as well as several files titled with the names of female Travis High School students and classes, according to the affidavit. Police did not find evidence that White sent the videos to others, Pridgeon said. White was arrested in December 2006, days after he was seen following young women at the mall with a camera.

In May, a North Shore High School Algebra teacher was arrested on two counts of possession of child pornography after students allegedly observed him looking at porn on a computer in a classroom at the school while committing indecent acts.

An indictment on Fernando Gonzalez, 34, of Houston, was handed down Dec. 10. He will face trial on Feb. 9, 2009.

Gonzalez was arrested by Constable Ken Jones Precinct 3 deputies and was subsequently charged with possession of child pornography.

"Some students saw the teacher watching porn on a computer at his desk and masturbating," Captain Jack Hagee, spokesperson for Constable Ken Jones Precinct 3 office said at the time of Gonzalez’s arrest in May. "The students told administrators, who then confronted him. The administrators then escorted him off campus and notified the police."

Hagee said Precinct 3 deputies worked with the Sex Crime Division to obtain warrants for Gonzalez's arrest. Fearing Gonzalez would attempt to flee, Hagee said deputies were able to arrest Gonzalez after they discovered he had an outstanding warrant for a traffic ticket in Sugarland. Deputies waited for Gonzalez to leave his house and when he did, they arrested him on that charge.

According to GPISD officials, Gonzalez worked for GPISD for 10 years. Gonzalez could face a maximum of 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

Meridian High School Principal Kelly Parker, who spent the night in the Bosque County Jail after he was arrested Tuesday on an improper relationship between educator and student charge, was released Wednesday after posting $25,000 bond.

Parker, who, according to an arrest affidavit, sent more than 80 text messages to a 17-year-old girl, was arrested around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the high school.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Parker allegedly sent 81 text messages to the high school senior, including messages describing his genitals.

According to the affidavit, one of the messages stated, "its been a long time since had a principal student relationship."

The victim, who is referred to as Jane Doe throughout the affidavit, told police that Parker offered her money in exchange for "kisses," "hugs," and "sex."

The affidavit states Jane Doe told police that she used to babysit for Parker, and he would tell her dirty jokes, buy her things, and give her cash.

She said he even bought the cell phone for her that he was using to text her.

According to the affidavit, Parker allegedly called Jane Doe as she was meeting with police.

It also states that Jane Doe told police she did not want a sexual relationship with Parker, telling police she told him on a number of times she wasn't interested, but that he persisted texting her.

Authorities are in the process of issuing an arrest warrant for a Kress teacher's aide. Erica Morquecho Gonzales allegedly had sexual relations with a 17-year old student in January. On Wednesday, a Hale County Grand Jury indicted the 33-year-old for improper relationship between educator and student.

The grand jury handed down an indictment after a two-month investigation by the Texas Rangers. School officials tell NewsChannel 11 the investigation started after a report was made to the Swisher County Sheriff's Office.

Student Jessica Gatlin said, "We just heard that there was a teacher messing around with a student and they found out who it was." Kress ISD Superintendent Doug Setliff says he received a call from the Swisher County Sheriff's office over Spring Break.

A 9-year-old girl's letter to Santa may have finally stopped a nightmare of alleged sexual abuse for her and her 10-year-old sister.

Police allege that for as long as four years Andres Enrique Cantu sexually abused the young sisters in their bedrooms while the girls slept or did their homework.

The white-haired Cantu, 55, shuffled into court in leg irons and handcuffs for the second time in less than a week Tuesday to face a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a young child.

The 9-year-old's plea to Santa, written as a school assignment, launched the investigation and led to the first charge of continuous sexual abuse last week. On Tuesday, Cantu was accused of abusing the girl's older sister, who was also mentioned in the letter.

Cantu, a computer lab aide at an alternative high school in McAllen, did not have an attorney present.

Investigators have refused to share the letter to Santa, saying it is evidence in an ongoing investigation. But the charging affidavit described it as "a wish list to Santa" asking that the girl's relative stop touching her and her sister.

Pharr Police spokesman Lt. Guadalupe Salinas said the girls' mother was unaware of the abuse but that the relative had moved out of the home after an earlier falling out.

The Associated Press is not identifying the relationship of the man to the girls to protect their identities.

A Former Bryan elementary school teacher and soccer coach Bruce Unger — who jumped bail days before his felony trial more than a year ago — has been tracked down by authorities in the Ukraine, Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk said.

Authorities said he voluntarily got on a plane Monday after being detained by Ukranian authorities. He will be returned to the courthouse where his trial was supposed to begin.

Interior Ministry spokeswoman Olena Melnyk told the Associated Press that police detained Unger, 29, outside the capital Kiev on Saturday. U.S. authorities had requested help in handing him over. The U.S. Embassy confirmed that information.

Unger was arrested in Bryan in 2006 on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child. He was released on $100,000 bail, but failed to show up in court Nov. 29, 2007 for a pre-trial hearing just days before the case was set to begin. He faced life in prison, if convicted.

He had worked as an English instructor in Kiev since arriving in November 2007.

Kirk said his office has been working with the U.S. Marshals Service, FBI, Bryan police and the District Attorney’s Office after receiving information that he was in the Ukraine.

“Working with the FBI, they actually were able to get a story in the newspaper that led to some tips and ultimately found him,” Kirk said.

Several years ago, Unger was widely praised for a soccer program for at-risk boys he started in Bryan schools in 2003 and was named one of USA Weekend’s Most Caring Coaches in 2005. He taught at Neal Elementary School for about four years before he was placed on administrative leave until his contract lapsed following his 2006 arrest. He survived the Bonfire collapse and met his future wife, whose sister died in the accident, at a meeting involving the incident.

A former science teacher convicted of child indecency who failed to report to police his whereabouts and earned himself a spot on the Texas Most Wanted list has been found. Police found 51-year-old Joe Wayne Cates, formerly of McKinney, in New Mexico last Friday and plans are underway to return him to Texas, according to a released statement from the New Mexico State Police Department.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit asked New Mexico State Police to investigate Cates’ whereabouts on Dec. 8. The Attorney General sent five team members to initiate the investigation. Then less than four days later, police discovered Cates living in a trailer park in Sandia Park, N.M. Officers served Cates’ arrest warrant at 8:47 p.m. Friday and took him into custody.

Cates had been on the run from police for two and a half years after a Collin County grand jury convicted him of a third-degree felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender in February of 2007 after he failed to report his whereabouts to the authorities.

Plano police charged Cates in 2001 after an unidentified adult male reported to the authorities he had been arrested while he was a juvenile. It is the policy of the McKinney Courier-Gazette to not release information that would lead to the identity of sexual assault victims. Cates worked as a science teacher with the Plano Independent School District. The juvenile was staying with Cates on or about June 15, 1989, so he could take him to a church mission trip the following day. The juvenile told police Cates touched him in an inappropriate manner while he was staying with him.

Cates became a registered sex offender in 2003 on three second-degree felony charges of indecency with a child. He entered a not guilty plea and a jury found him guilty on two of the charges and placed him on 10 years probation. The Collin County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion to revoke his probation in November of 2006, according to Collin County court records.

A Tom Green County grand jury indictment alleges that a San Angelo Independent School District employee had sexual relations with a district high school student.

Robert Harold Goetz, 45, of Christoval was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Tom Green County jail. He faces a charge of an improper relationship between an educator and a student, a second degree felony, according to the indictment.

A second degree felony is punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.

Goetz was released Tuesday on bond of $5,000 for that charge and $1,200 for two other charges, according to jail records. According to the indictment, Goetz knowingly or intentionally engaged in sexual intercourse on July 4 with a female high school student.

Goetz worked at Carver Learning Center, 301 W. Ninth St., said Superintendent Carol Ann Bonds. He has been on administrative leave since Aug. 21 pending the investigation, she said

Joe Wayne Gilbreth, 42, a former color guard instructor at Westwood High School in Austin, Texas has reportedly been charged with with soliciting sex from a16-year-old former student.

It is alleged that Gilbreth, who currently works for the Magnolia Independent School District as a color guard director, communicated with the boy via Facebook beginning in October. It is further alleged that Gilbreth and the boy exchanged sexually-explicit messages on Facebook and later via cell phones.

Gilbreth has been charged with online solicitation of a child and allegedly confessed to exchanging inappropriate messages with the boy on December 10th.

Reportedly Gilbreth came to the attention of police when by boy turned him in.

Gilbreth faces the possibility of up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the third-degree felony.

James Mayes, a former teacher at North Forest’s Children’s First Academy in the Houston, Texas area has been found guilty of molesting a former student during a school trip to Dallas in 2003 when the girl was 12-years-old.

It was alleged that Mayes also had sex with her at her home a year later.
During his trial Mayes denied the accusations and says he had never been to the alleged victim’s house. Mayes says he felt police were too quick to arrest him, and says he never was given a chance to tell his side of the story.

The Mayes trial turned into a bit of a circus when one juror came forward about allegations that she felt pressured into a guilty verdict. The juror said she wanted to change her guilty verdict just as jurors were getting together to deliberate punishment. The juror proceeded to yell at the judge, saying that she was harassed by the other jurors and bullied into voting guilty. The reluctant juror indicated that she would refuse to deliberate the punishment phase and was kicked off the jury by the judge.

The remaining 11 jurors returned with a punishment phase verdict of two years probation. The jurors were informed that the minimum was five years probation so they adjourned to deliberate again and returned with a five year probation sentence.

A former middle school teacher in Denton accused of sexually assaulting a student last year is in trouble again.

Denton police say they arrested Lauren Cosgrove Monday for tampering with a witness.

They claim she sent the boy a text message asking him if his parents would drop the charges if she gave them money. The text came after the two allegedly spent time alone together on Dec. 1.

This is the second time she has been arrested for tampering with a witness in this case. In October of 2007, police say she tried to have one of the boy's classmates contact him for her, requesting that he change his statement against her.

A Jefferson High School teacher was arrested after a student caught the educator and an 18-year-old female engaged in sexual activity in a classroom Friday afternoon, police said.

Paul D. Roberts, 42, was arrested Saturday morning and jailed on a charge of engaging in an improper relationship with a student. He remains jailed on a $20,000 bond.

According to an affidavit for his arrest, a male student walked into a classroom about 3:15 p.m. and saw a shirtless Roberts and the female student engaged in sexual activity. The teacher told the student to leave, and a custodian returned to unlock the door, but Roberts said, “close the door.”

The female student later told investigators that their consensual relationship began in January. She would visit him about 3 p.m. when the classroom was empty, the affidavit said. Flirting graduated to touching and sexual activity over the past several months before the other student stumbled upon them Friday, according to the affidavit for arrest.

A former Azle private school teacher charged in Tarrant County with having an improper relationship with an 18-year-old student has now been arrested in Parker County on similar allegations involving the same teen and a second 17-year-old student.

Julianna Christine Sauls, 38, turned herself in to Parker County authorities Wednesday afternoon on two warrants for improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony, said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler. She was released hours later from the Parker County Jail after posting a $60,000 bond.

Sauls, who had been fired from the Azle Christian School for what a court document described as “lack of work,” had been charged Wednesday in Tarrant County on the same charge. She had been free on bond in connection with the Tarrant County case since her Nov. 12 arrest.

Azle police first began investigating Sauls Oct. 28, after the 18-year-old and his father reported that his algebra teacher had been pursuing him since September, including groping him in class and performing oral sex on him in a high school parking lot.

Paulding County High School teacher was arrested late Tuesday night on sexual assault charges after Dallas police allegedly caught him in a parked car with a 17-year-old female student.

Eric Woodworth, 42, and the student, whose name was not released, were in Woodworth’s car about 11 p.m. at Sara Babb Park in Dallas when an officer approached the car, police said.

Under Georgia legal code, sexual contact between a student and teacher is considered sexual assault because the accused “has supervisory or disciplinary authority over such other person,” even if the relationship is consensual.

The 17-year-old was also arrested for giving a false name and date of birth to the questioning officer, said Cpl. Brandon Gurley of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

Woodworth, who teaches physical education and coaches ninth-grade football, was charged with obstruction after confirming the female’s false information with the officer.

The female was still in custody Wednesday evening. Woodworth is being held on $2,950 bond on the sexual assault charge and $1,300 bond on the obstruction charge.

Mathis High School Athletic Director and football coach Christopher Casarez has been arrested again, after a second female student accused him — this time of sexual advances.

Casarez, 35, turned himself in Monday after Mathis Municipal Court Judge Minerva Ramirez issued a warrant for his arrest, based on accusations by a 17-year-old female student that Casarez fondled her on three occasions, Mathis Police Lt. Sal Delariva said.

Casarez did not return phone calls Wednesday.

The Mathis coach first was arrested Nov. 11 after another 17-year-old student told police that the coach grabbed both of her hands and held them in front of her chest and asked her three times if she wanted him to go. She told him to please go, and reported the incident to a teacher, police said.

Casarez was freed on a $5,000 bond on a Class B misdemeanor unlawful restraint charge in connection with that accusation.

The family of a teenage girl filed a lawsuit against a former teacher they say molested her, causing physical, psychological and emotional damage that exists to this day, according to the lawsuit.

The family has filed a civil lawsuit against Kerry Foulk, alleging she assaulted the girl at Foulk's home in September of 2006.

At the time, Foulk was a substitute teacher at Nederland High School.

Earlier this year, Foulk pleaded guilty to indecency with a high school student. She received ten years deferred adjudication and six months in jail. She can no longer teach and must register as a sex offender.

The civil lawsuit was filed by the father of a Nederland High School student.  The student was 15 in 2006.

The lawsuit alleges the girl was befriended by Foulk, and on various occasions, would spend the night at Foulk's home, along with other girls who were minors.

According to the lawsuit, the girl, identified only as T.J., was invited to spend the night at Foulk's home in September of 2006. The lawsuit alleges that when everyone was out of the home, the defendant began drinking and became intoxicated, and also provided alcohol to T.J.

A former Smith County substitute teacher who was on probation for less than a year for having a sexual relationship with a student was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday for failing to register as a sex offender. Jennifer Elizabeth Bagley, 37, was convicted of having an improper relationship between educator and student -- a 16-year-old girl who attended Bullard High School.

She was sentenced by a Smith County jury in August 2007 to 10 years probation. Ms. Bagley pleaded guilty in January 2008 to sexual assault of a child, involving the same victim, and was sentenced by 241st District Judge Jack Skeen Jr. to 10 years probation. On Thursday, Ms. Bagley admitted to violating the terms and conditions of her probation and was sentenced to 10 years in prison on each of the two charges. She also pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced by Skeen to 15 years in prison. Because of the plea agreement, the defendant will serve the sentences at the same time and will be eligible for parole after serving five years.

A Round Rock assistant teacher and coach is wanted for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student.  

Round Rock Police say a Stony Point teacher's aide and coach secretly carried on a relationship with a student on and off the clock.

Police say Noah Byrd, 25, started a relationship with the 17-year-old student in October. The student said Byrd would send her text messages in class.

"They were explicit in sexual nature and were concerning to a degree even beyond that as if that's not bad enough," said Round Rock police officer Eric Poteet.

According to a court affidavit, the relationship was also physical. The student said Byrd picked her up after a football game in early November and they had sex. Police say when administrators questioned Byrd about the relationship Wednesday, he walked out of the building and hasn't been seen since. Police have issued a warrant for his arrest.

"Clearly we hope that anyone has information about Mr. Byrd's whereabouts,” said Poteet.  “We would like to know we would like to apprehend him."

A 26-year-old teacher in the Dallas school district has been arrested after a 14-year-old female student told police that they had sex in a school, authorities said.

Calvin J. Beckton, who teaches at Boude Storey Middle School, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of sexual assault after the teenager said they had sex in the school’s band hall on Oct. 28, police said.

Dallas police declined to release any further details about the case.

Mr. Beckton has been placed on leave and removed from campus pending the outcome of the investigation, said Jon Dahlander, a Dallas school district spokesman.

Mr. Beckton was being held in the Dallas County jail Wednesday in lieu of a $25,000 bond.

Candra Dee Payton, 32, a former reading teacher at Seagraves Junior High School in Seagraves, Texas has reportedly pleaded guilty to a charge of an improper relationship with a student.

In March of 2007 Payton was indicted on allegations of a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male 9th-grade student.

Payton was indicted on charges of sexual assault, indecency with a child, improper relationship with a studen and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, for a total of 14 counts.

As a result of her plea, Payton was sentenced to ten years of community supervision, 400 hours of community service and a $10 thousand dollar fine plus court costs.

Reportedly Payton will never be allowed to teach again but under the terms of the plea deal she will not be required to register as a sex offender.

Victoria Ann Chacon, 27, a former teacher at Somerset Junior High School in Somerset, Texas has been arrested on charges of distributing harmful material to a minor.

Chacon came to the attention of authorities in March when the mother of a 14-year-old boy allegedly found two love letters from Chacon to her son. It is also alleged that in those letters, “Chacon professes her love for the teen about how passionate he is, and about how she feels when she and the teen kiss each other.”

When school administrators were informed of the accusations against Chacon she was placed on administrative leave and an investigation was initiated. Shortly thereafter Chacon resigned from the school system. School officials did not find evidence that Chacon had engaged in any improper relationships with Somerset ISD students.

A Grand Prairie schoolteacher was arrested this week after being accused of indecent acts with a 12-year-old boy.

Robin Smith, 30, was taken into custody Monday and faces a charge of indecency with a child, police said. He has been placed on leave by the Grand Prairie school district.

District spokesman Sam Buchmeyer said Mr. Smith has worked for the district for three years. He spent two years at Adams Middle School and was teaching seventh-grade math this year at Truman Middle School.

The alleged incident occurred two years ago, Mr. Buchmeyer said. School officials learned about the allegation Nov. 7 and immediately removed Mr. Smith from the classroom.

"My understanding is a student said something to a teacher at the Ninth Grade Center," Mr. Buchmeyer said. "The teacher went to the principal, and the principal brought in the school resource officer."

The district then placed Mr. Smith on leave and began its own investigation, Mr. Buchmeyer added.

Mr. Smith was released from jail shortly before midnight Monday after posting a $100,000 bond. Police are trying to determine whether there may be other alleged victims.

A North Texas teacher has been arrested for inappropriate behavior with a teenager.

Shawn Quinney, 27, was a teacher at Eagle Advantage Academy in Waxahachie until Oct. 31. He worked there for a little more than a year and taught drama, theater, music. At one point he was also a cheerleading coach.

Quinney is now charged with online solicitation of a minor and sexual performance by a child.

According to Quinney's arrest warrant, he admitted to creating two fake MySpace accounts in the name of David Owens, which he used to contact minors.

"During the contact with these minors, Quinney related he would speak of 'sexual things' and deceived them into thinking that he was somebody that he was not," police stated in an arrest warrant.

One of the minors he contacted was a 15-year-old male who attends Eagle Advantage Academy, police say.

Investigators say the relationship evolved from the internet to phone calls. That's when Quinney allegedly asked the teen to engage in inappropriate sexual acts.

Police say there is no evidence that Quinney ever physically met with the teen.

A Donna High School substitute teacher was arrested Thursday for allegedly having sex with one of his students. Hidalgo County sheriff's investigators accuse Michael Jason Llanos, 25, of sleeping with a 17-year-old girl on Nov. 1 at a home west of the city.

He is expected to be formally charged with having an improper relationship with a student - a second degree felony - at a hearing this afternoon. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

Tara Allison Hodges, 26, of Katy, Texas, surrendered to Waco police charges today, said Waco police spokesman Melvin Roseborough.

Detectives, during an investigation, found that Ms. Hodges had been involved in a sexual relationship with a 14 year-old student while she was employed as a teacher for WISD, Roseborough said.

An East Texas high school football coach was arrested and jailed Saturday on a charge of online solicitation of a minor.  39-year-old John Tiger was jailed around 3 a.m. Saturday by officials with the Upshur County Sheriff's Office. Investigators say Tiger, who lives in Longview, is a coach and teacher in New Diana and previously coached and taught at Union Hill High School.    

Tiger maintained contact with at least one Union Hill student after he left the district and on Friday sent text messages to a 15-year-old Union Hill student. Based on the nature of the text messages, the mother and child came to the sheriff's office. "He was under surveillance constantly and we had individuals stationed at the football game to maintain visual contact on him that night," said Upshur county district attorney Billy Byrd.

Tiger, a defensive coordinator with the New Diana football team, allegedly instructed the girl to meet him after the game at a pre-determined location.

A fourth grade teacher at Corrigan-Camden Elementary, Jennifer Hudspeth, is on paid administrative leave and has been since the middle of last week.

"She was an elementary school teacher and been in our district for quite a few years.  She went to high school here and the only district she's taught in, so she's been our district for a number of years," says Superintendent Tom Bowman. 

The accusations were for sending explicit text messages to other students. "We take any allegation of this very seriously and it's very disappointing and disturbing.  But we take it seriously and cooperate any way we can. We've reported it to the State Board of Educators Certification and the Child Protective Service," says Bowman.

The Sheriff's Office says they are investigating the matter after a parent came forward, saying 15 and 16 year olds boys were getting the texts.

A former Keller teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years probation, according to a court official.

Aaron Daniel Pompa, 26, pleaded guilty on Oct. 20 to sexual assault of a child under 17 years old in Criminal District Court No. 2 in Fort Worth. Mr. Pompa was arrested in August 2007 after the student told her parents about the relationship. The girl told her parents that she had sexual contact three times between April and August at the teacher's home, police said.

Teacher Gets 40 Years for Sex Assault on 5th-Graders The Harris County District Attorney's Office obtained a 40-year prison sentence Thursday against a former schoolteacher for aggravated sexual assault and indecency on five of her fifth-grade students. Brandy Lynn Gonzales, 30, pleaded guilty Aug. 4 to the series of sexual offenses during her 2003-04 assignment to Piney Point Elementary School. Her husband, Johnny Ray Gonzales, 33, also received a 15-year prison term for sexually assaulting of one of his wife's victims.

They were boys 11 to 13 years old, who were enrolled in her classes. The offenses included fondling inside the classroom, oral sex during outings with some of the boys at a mall and movie theater, and intercourse at her residence. Prosecutor Denise Oncken, chief of the District Attorney's Child Abuse Division, noted that some of the children involved had learning disorders.

One of them was sexually assaulted by the husband and wife after he sought help from the teacher because of physical abuse at home. He attempted suicide after the revelations of the sexual encounters, Oncken said. "This defendant has broken my son into a million pieces," Oncken quoted from the mother's statement. The prosecutor said the teacher's comments, even after her conviction, fit the profile of a classic, unremorseful predator.

A former Fort Stockton High School teacher in Texas,turned herself over to officers in San Angelo after police accused her of giving pornographic e-mails to four students. Jaime Steen, 25, a former agricultural teacher at the school, was charged with the sale, distribution or display of a harmful material to minor for sending e-mails showing images depicting sexual intercourse and sexual humor, Fort Stockton Police Lt. Louis Hernandez said Wednesday.

She posted a $2,500 bond shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday and was released from a San Angelo jail, Hernandez added. Hernandez said that Steen only faced a misdemeanor charge because the four students that reportedly received the e-mails were between the ages of 15 and 17. Had any of the students been 14 or younger, she could have faced a felony charge. The principal and the police began investigating her Oct. 11, when they first became aware of the e-mails. Hernandez said the teacher resigned the day the principal confronted her on it.

A teacher initially placed on leave over a book controversy is charged with trying to have sexual contact with three students, even asking what one would do for a better grade, according to the indictment.

Kaleb Tierce, 26, was indicted Thursday on three counts of attempted improper relationship between educator and student, a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison. Tierce, who no longer teaches, turned himself in Friday and was released after posting $30,000 bond.

Although the investigation began over a complaint that his ninth-grade class reading list contained a book about a murderer who has sex with his victims' bodies, Tierce was not indicted on a charge of providing harmful material to a minor, a misdemeanor.

His attorney did not immediately return a call to The Associated Press on Monday. According to the indictment, Tierce requested that one girl go to his house when no one else was there. Taylor County sheriff's Sgt. John Cummins said Tierce allegedly asked her to come to his home under a "normal pretense," then allegedly kissed her and exposed himself to her.

Tierce asked another girl "what she would be willing to do for a better grade" and asked a third girl for sexual favors, according to the indictment. All of the incidents allegedly happened in 2005.

A former Sunnyvale teacher was sentenced today to 10 years in federal prison after admitting to possession of child pornography.

Chad Michael Hutchins, 29, was arrested in June 2007 when police acting on a tip searched his Forney home and found three computers containing more than 600 images of child porn. Investigators determined he obtained the images using file-sharing software.

U.S. District Judge Sidney Fitzwater also ordered Mr. Hutchins to serve 15 years of supervised release after his prison term ends, and that he register as a sex offender.

Dennis Joseph Jasso, 34, a former assistant band director at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, Texas has been indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of distributing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.

The decision by U.S. Magistrate Judge John Primomo to keep Dennis Joseph Jasso jailed until a bail hearing Wednesday came after federal prosecutors revealed the magnitude of the case and argued for Jasso's detention.

A federal grand jury indicted Jasso, 34, on Wednesday on two counts of distributing child pornography and one count of possessing it.

The indictment was unsealed Friday afternoon after FBI agents arrested him and he appeared for his initial hearing.

“When the FBI searched his home, they found approximately 27,000 images of child pornography on his computer and approximately 1,000 video clips of child pornography,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Ray Jahn told the judge.

No one could recall as much child pornography uncovered in one location by the FBI in the Alamo City, including one of Jasso's lawyers, Bobby Barrera, who said he was “not aware of any other (cases) as large.”

Michael Burks, 29, of Whitehouse, who has worked as a Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School girls' basketball coach, was arrested Friday on a charge of sexual assault of a child, according to jail records.

The allegation against Burks relates to an alleged relationship with a non-Gorman student, according to information from Gorman.

Smith County Sheriff's Lt. Larry Wiginton said Burks turned himself in to authorities Friday on the charge and was placed in custody. The veteran officer said Burks and the girl had an ongoing relationship, and it was not a case of a predator and an unwilling victim. "It was a consensual relationship with a lot of text messaging, a lot of conversations and they met in a couple of different places, including Whitehouse. We are still investigating at this time," he said. Wiginton said that, although the victim was a "willing participant" in the relationship even though it was against the law.

A 41-year-old dance instructor was indicted Thursday on charges that she repeatedly sexually assaulted one of her students.

Sandra Borrego was indicted on 22 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to court records.

She is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy who took classes at Most Precious Blood Catholic School in late 2006, police said.

The boy said he had sexual contact with Borrego on about 20 to 30 occasions behind a curtain in the school's cafeteria and at her house, according to an arrest affidavit. A district judge in October 2007 ruled police could collect DNA samples from Borrego and her daughter, who was 6 months old at the time, to determine who fathered the child. Borrego, who was released from the Nueces County Jail on $25,000 bond that same month, rented space and taught folkloric dance on church property for several years, according to Diocese of Corpus Christi officials.

Steven Golka is currently behind bars awaiting trial on charges that he violently raped a small girl, but Austin police say there is much more to it; the girl claims that between July 4th and 2 weeks ago, Golka showed her graphic images of adults and children having sex on his laptop computer.

Investigators seized that computer as part of the initial investigation and are expected to file possession of child pornography charges against Golka as early as today. If convicted he could be facing up to life in prison.

A former coach at Alamogordo High School has pleaded guilty to charges of having sex with one of his student athletes in March.

Twenty-9-year-old James Javier Cruz coached girls soccer and basketball.

He pleaded guilty (last Tuesday) to three counts of having sex with the 16-year-old girl. Court records show he took her to his mother's apartment where they had sex during her fourth period class.

Cruz faces up to 4.5 years in prison and fines of up to $15,000. He remains free on a $40,000 bond. A date for sentencing has not been scheduled.

Chief Deputy District Attorney RoxeAnne B. Esquibel said the plea bargain means the victim won't have to testify in court. Cruz's attorney, Bert Atkins, declined to comment on the case. Cruz will be required to register as a sex offender.

Police said Jeremy McCoy, 30, a former teacher and soccer coach at Springtown High School was arrested Aug. 13.

Police said the victim is a female Springtown student. Investigators said they do not believe there are any other victims. 

McCoy was charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relation between educator and student, both of which are second-degree felonies.

He is out on bond a $40,000. Police said McCoy resigned as a teacher and soccer coach, and the principal said McCoy is no longer employed by the school district.

Leslie Letsinger, 46, of Hull was indicted by the Hardin County Grand Jury after investigators turned in their reports regarding two incidences that are said to have occurred in 2006. He turned himself in on July 15 and was held in the Hardin County jail until he posted four separate bonds of $2.500 on each count.

According to the investigative report, a female student-athlete accused Letsinger of touching her in an inappropriate way. The report details the incident with the girl, a powerlifter at the time, saying that after Letsinger offered to massage her shoulders while working out. While massaging her shoulders, the girls said Letsinger then began to touch her breasts.

A former teacher was forced to apologize four times Monday after pleading guilty to sexual assault of a child, KPRC Local 2 reported. Christopher Evans, 26, was a teacher at New Heights Christian Academy. He admitted in court that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl while he was her teacher. Evans entered a plea to avoid prison.

In return for the plea, Evans received an eight-year adjudicated sentence. He pled guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child. But, Judge Vanessa Velasquez wanted more. "I think it's only right, based on what was done, and the fact that the state's given you a break that you apologize to this woman, this young lady, for what you’ve done," the judge said. Evans responded in a low voice. "I didn’t hear you," the judge said. He tried again, but still did not satisfy Velasquez. "Were you somebody that was supposed to be trusted? Wasn't she a student? Didn't you take advantage of her? Well then, I think you ought to say a heck of a lot more than, 'I'm sorry. I apologize.' Turn around and apologize appropriately for what you've done," she said.

Cleveland High School theatre teacher and Student Council sponsor Laurie Anne Lewis was arrested on Tuesday on charges of prostitution in downtown Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, 38-year-old Lewis was arrested in an ongoing undercover operation. Since Lewis' arrest was part of a continuing investigation, the offense report regarding her arrest has not been made public. But Kerry Cowart, the superintendent of Cleveland ISD said he spoke to Lewis on Friday afternoon and confirmed the allegations.

Cowart said that when he asked if she was arrested for prostitution, Lewis admitted it was true. Lewis was immediately placed on paid administrative leave pending resolution of the charges. In the meantime, Lewis posted a $500 cash bond. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Harris County Criminal Court 2 on August 20.

Lewis had been teaching in with Cleveland ISD since August 2006. In addition to teaching theatre and sponsoring the Student Council, Lewis was also the sponsor for Cleveland High School's One-Act Play competition.

Former Shepherd High School baseball coach Ryan Ferguson pled guilty to the charge of improper relationship between educator and student on August 11. Ferguson, 33, was indicted in February of this year after sending a text message that alluded to a possible sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student identified in court documents only as A.S.

The message was written while Ferguson’s wife was out and advised A.S. that she should have come over and “jumped in the shower” with him. “There was no proof of a sexual relationship,” said San Jacinto County Criminal District Attorney Bill Burnett.

Burnett also said that since the girl was 17 there was nothing criminal about an older man sending text messages to her. The criminal act came because of the fact that it was a teacher sending the text messages.

In exchange for Ferguson’s pleading guilty to improper relationship between educator and student, which is a second degree felony, the District Attorney’s office agreed that Ferguson will receive five years deferred adjudication.

Edinburg police are looking for more possible victims in a case involving a BETA academy teacher.

Nelson Galloso is accused of indecency with a child and having an improper relationship between an educator and student. There are a total of four criminal charges against him.

Barry Griffin, 38-year-old Lon Morris College golf instructor, has been released from jail and placed in the custody of his parents in Granbury. Mr. Griffin was arrested last week and charged with possession and distribution of child pornography on May 30 in Cherokee County.

He was arrested by the FBI June 9 and charged in U.S. Judge John Love's court with possession and distribution of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors. He has not been indicted on the charges.

He will wear an electronic monitoring device and will have no contact with children younger than 18, with the exception of his 14-month-old son. He is required to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and drug testing and will not be allowed to use the Internet or electronic devices capable of taking photos.

Saginaw High School geography teacher faces a charge of an inappropriate relationship between an educator and a student, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, according to Saginaw police.Dennis Wayne Hudgens, 42, was arrested Wednesday, said officer K. Allison, a police spokeswoman.

He is accused of having an improper relationship with a 17-year-old female student. He is free after posting $10,000 bail, Allison said. Hudgens has taught at the high school for a year, she said, declining to release further details. School is out for the summer, and the public information officer for the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw school district could not be reached for comment Friday.

Dayna Crenshaw, 33, was arrested at about 8 a.m. today, according to Nacogdoches ISD Police Chief Doug Ploch.

An improper relationship with a student is a second degree felony, Ploch said.

In April, Crenshaw was placed on administrative leave after it was reported to NISD administration that Crenshaw had allegedly been involved in a relationship with a student.

According to the affidavit for search warrant, the NISD police department was contacted April 25 "in regards to allegations being made by a female student that stated she had been involved in a sexual relationship with a teacher, Dayna Crenshaw." The affidavit also stated that an NISD police officer said he had "reason and evidence to believe that Crenshaw knowingly and intentionally had a sexual relationship with a student between the dates of Dec. 1, 2007, and March 31, 2008."

The officer stated that the student admitted that she had been involved in a four-month relationship with Crenshaw, and on several occasions, they had been together at Crenshaw's mother's house, the affidavit for search warrant said.

Authorities in Whitewright have arrested a teacher for soliciting a minor on the Internet. Grayson County authorities arrested 44-year-old Michael Call of Trenton after a three-month investigation with police in southeast Houston. Whitewright school officials want to make sure everyone knows that all the children are safe and that situation is being looked into. Daniel Gotera has more.

Grayson County authorities say they see it all the time across the nation, but this time it’s hitting home. A teacher from Whitewright has been arrested for online solicitation while teaching students at Whitewright Middle School.

Grayson County authorities received a call on Wednesday from the Santa Fe (Texas) Police Department regarding a man they say had been presumably participating in online chats with a 14-year-old girl. That man, 44-year old Michael Call, had been involved in the chats since February of this year. Throughout that time, Call had installed a web camera on his computer and had conducted online of what authorities are calling a "sexual nature"

I guess now custodians are moving in on the teacher's territory. A Brazoswood High School custodian is accused of having sex twice in one week with a 14-year-old girl who is a student at the school.

Herbert Hernandez Tobar, 26, is charged with two counts of sexual assault, a second-degree felony, according to court documents. Clute police arrested him Tuesday.

Tobar and the girl allegedly had sex Friday on campus in the girl’s locker room and a second time at his house in the 100 block of West Pecan Street, court documents state. Both incidents happened last week, the documents state.

Tobar was a substitute custodian and worked only when the school had an opening to fill, Brazosport ISD spokesman Stuart Dornburg said. The district hired him in March.

DeWitt County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 23-year-old Carol Elizabeth Walsdorf of Nordheim on a charge of improper conduct between educator and student.

The Monday arrest of Walsdorf, an agricultural science teacher, at her residence ended a 10-day investigation by the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office and Nordheim school district officials.

“We received an intake from Child Protective Services the same day we received notification from Sonya Little, superintendent of Nordheim ISD,” he said. “From there we began taking statements from everyone who knew of the possible relationship that included visiting with the victim and also the offender.”

A Travis High School teacher was arrested Wednesday and accused of having sex with an 18-year-old female student more than 20 times in five days.

Allen James Cole, 34, was charged with having an improper relationship with a student. Another teacher told police Monday that the student had a sexual relationship with Cole. The student told police that she went to Cole's South Austin apartment several times during the first week of May and had sex with him.

A former Fort Bend Independent School District middle school teacher charged with sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy likely will have several additional charges filed against her, a law enforcement officer said Friday.

Rebecca Ann Bramlett, who resigned as an English teacher at Baines Middle School in Missouri City before being arrested on Friday, is accused of having sexual relations with a Baines student.

In a press conference Friday afternoon, Chief Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputy Craig Brady said investigators believe the woman, who is married with children, had an affair with the boy for some time. Additional charges similar to the single count of sexual assault probably will be filed, apparently based on multiple alleged sexual incidents between the two.

Former teacher at Lumberton High School in Lumberton, Texas, Kathy White, has been sentenced to 10 years deferred probation on charges of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student. She is also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine. A plea agreement White entered into allowed another count of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student to be dropped.

White was charged in February 2005 for having sex with the 17 year old student, once in her home, and once at the school.

An Atlanta High School English teacher was arrested Monday, April 17 for having an improper relationship with a 16- year-old male student.

Melissa Kay Lee, 32, of Maud was arrested as the result of an investigation by the Atlanta Police Department after the alleged sexual relationship was reported.

Lee was picked up on a warrant for sexual assault and another warrant for improper relationship between educator and student. Both offenses are second degree felonies.

Atlanta Independent School District Superintendent Roger Hailey said the district could not make any comment on the subject as it was a personnel matter that is under investigation.

Randy Arias, 27, turned himself in and bonded out of the Travis County Jail Monday night on the charge of having an improper relationship with a student. The Spanish teacher and cross-country coach had already been placed on administrative leave by Austin ISD.

A teacher was indicted last week for sexual assault of a child and an improper relationship between a teacher and a student.

Nancy Torres, a former teacher’s aide at Wakeland High School, is accused of being involved in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old FISD student in 2006. The relationship began when he was a student at Staley Middle School. Police do not believe he was a student of Torres’.

Torres was arrested and charged with two second-degree felonies in November 2006, but the indictment did not happen until last week because the victim’s family moved out of state and lost contact with the Frisco Police Department.

FISD officials became aware of the situation in November 2006 after receiving a phone call from a parent. Torres was fired that same month.

A technology specialist at a Houston middle school has been charged with two counts of possessing child pornography, the state attorney general's office announced Wednesday.

Richard Garret Hulbert, 56, was arrested at his Houston home Tuesday after investigators received tips that he might be sharing pornographic images of children online, according to Attorney General Greg Abbott's office. The tips came via the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, said Lauri Saathoff, a spokeswoman for Abbott's office.
